Organisations need to ‘benchmark’ to quantify the quality of their policies and strategies in correlation with standard measurements or similar measurements with their peers. The intent of exposure visits is to ascertain critical points of focus, gauge performance levels of organisations and how to increase the performance levels. The exposure visits are for insight and exchange of experiences and lessons on development agenda such as bee-keeping (honey production), wetland management, rural development, trans-boundary basin water management as well as to observe and learn from the visiting communities good practices so that similar practices can be adopted, introduced or duplicated elsewhere. Exposure visit is a tool that is used to facilitate learning and capacity building. The interaction and knowledge sharing with the different initiatives and organizations provides participants with the opportunity to network with other professionals.
